Rooster and Dayna had another perfect week at Playa Blanca. Rooster landed tons of fish. With in the first couple of days of fishing he landed permit and a grand slam. He also landed another permit at the end of the week. One day he and Dayna went to the Santa Rosa lagoon system and landed a few tarpon, and a couple of snook. Dayna landed a monster 30 pound plus snook.
David also had another perfect week with tons of bones, a few tarpon, and a monster permit. ( 30 plus ) and one snook. ( by the way David thanks for
the 8 wt. Xi 2)
Nick had his first salt water trip here at Playa Blanca. He is a guide up at Montana. He landed his first Bone, tarpon, snook and his first time Permit.
He to, said he would be back for sure.
Tyler is 's guide in Montana. He also a great time fishing. He landed lots of big bones in Santa Rosa. He also landed a monster tarpon, at least 25 pounds.
Tyler also landed a couple of permit. ( first time )
Hunter had a bunch of bones and a couple of tarpon. Hunter also landed his first permit. He had to take a break on Friday. To much sun, and too much cuba libres.
( I hope detox went good for ya Hunter, and thanks for the cool Bose speakers, they thump)
Keanton started off the week real slow. So I sent him with Travis the next day to the tarpon lagoon. They came out with 6 tarpon and 6 snook. He came back super happy and had a rock n roll night at the lodge. On Friday he went to Santa Rosa a cought loads of big bones. (thanks KT for the big tip)
Travis is a real pro fisherman. He fished all week with my personal permit/deep sea guide Atanacio. Travis speaks almost perfect Spanish. He has a floating
lodge down south in Panama. I was a English speaking guide short for this week so that is why he fished with Atanacio. They saw tons of fish, permit, bones, tarpon
and snook. Travis totaled 3 big tarpon and a couple of snook. Travis did not cast much during the begining of the week because he was enjoying the sight seeing aspect
of Espirito Santos. He said he was down for sending clientes in the future.
Ryan Landed lots of bones in Santa Rosa one day. He had his chances at permit, and landed a couple of baby tarpon. Ryan enjoyed fishing for cudas on the fly.
Tate and Jeanine had a special week at Playa Blanca which they will never forget. They landed lots of fish. The best day for them was the day they both landed a permit. First Tate landed a nice permit then Jeanine landed hers. Then Tate broke out a little box with a huge diamond ring for Jeanine. She was glowing for the rest of the night. (congratulations)
Matt A. Landed lots of bones and tarpon or two. He celebrated his bithday on Tuesday with his first time permit.
Erick did get his permit and snook with lots of bones.
He said he would definitely be back for the super grand slam.

Jeff,
"We had a great time. Caught tons of fish. I had 70-80 very solid permit shots, but only one ate. I was sorry not to have brought my fly tying gear. We caught many many bonefish on the first cast with small grey clousers or orange charlies. Took a little time to figure that out. There were tarpon caught but I never fished for them.
Mike, Bobby and everyone were great. The whole group really had fun. Pato, Eladio and Gaspy did well as guides. Gaspy is a bit hyper around fish, but that's understandable.
As the full moon passed, the permit became progressively more interested in flies. I cast well to at least fifteen permit only to have a bonefish dart out and take the fly. I caught four bonefish out of one permit pod before the group spooked. I think if was there this 'next' week, my permit success would improve a lot."
Thanks for your help!
Andrew
JANUARY 23 THRU 30 2010 This was another windy week. Condiciones where hard for casting and traveling in Ascension Bay was tough. Although everyone caught fish this week.
Nick and his father Albert did very well. Albert and Nick caught lots of bones with Carlos. Carlos took them to Santa Rosa Lagoon a couple of times. Albert caught and landed his first tarpon and snook there. Nick also did well hooking into various tarpon and landing a couple in the back country.
Dennis and Dave fished all week together. They had the time of their life fishing with Jose. Landed lots of bones and both caught a Tarpon. Dennis downed his first scorpion here in Casa Blanca. That would mean he landed his first permit. This was their first Saltwater fishing trip. They had a hoot.
Dudly and Sue fished with Fernando. Sue caught some Bones, and Dudly did too. He had his chances at permit, but luck just was not on his side. They want to come back to Playa Blanca in May and have a re match with permit and tarpon. JANUARY 17 THROUGH 23

A tale from an english vistor to Casa Blanca: December 2009
With all depressing weather in the UK I thought I would tell you all where I was able to fish last week even with Hurricane Ida going through on the first day. Casa Blanca is in the Sian Kaan biosphere is in the south of the Yucatan Penninsula south of Cancun Mexico.A relatively cheap charter flight can get you there and as the dollar is getting weaker it is cost effective place to have a holiday if you are english like me. It has the easiest bonefishing around for relatively small but powerful fish in good quantities but is also the place in the world for permit and snook on the fly with occasional tarpon .These fish all in one day have the cache of being a super grand slam, The fishing is from skiffs with a guide poling you along the shallow lagoons of the reserve. I didnt manage a slam however, one day the tarpon to make the slam fell off ,the next day the permit.Thats how it goes! If you catch a permit the forfeit in the bar is a scorpion in your tequila. The snook fishing under the mangroves was red hot when I was there,They look like massive bass and your fly casting has to be good or you will tangle the line in the branches below which they lie and patrol. The first day I managed 20 fish up to 10lb and on another was broken by a 20 lb fish which broke 30lb line as it hurled itself through the air.Fish to 30lb were hooked. You could fish off the pier in the evening. The fish under the light at the end have to be seen to be believed but were difficult to tempt.I had some sucess with the tarpon on a stormy night. The area is covered in Mayan ruins and apart from the dreaded plastic on the beach due to the S/E trades totally unspoilt with butterflies, flamingoes, jaguars and crocs which do like to say hello at the end of the pier at night, strictly no wading then!
Hope the tale warms some people up and keeps them going until we can all get out again
Thank you Casa Blanca for a fabulous week with great food and wonderful fishing.A special thank you to Pato our guide.
