Boats
All boats used for all inclusive fishing packages by the lodges, are 16 foot, Dolphin, flats skiffs that will accommodate two fishermen and a guide. Each is constructed with a forward casting deck, tandem passenger seats, rod racks, and a poling platform. Each boat is loaded with a fresh cooler packed with ice, lunch and plenty of boat beverages. All our equipment is in top running condition and safety is our main concern. Agustin, our island mechanic maintains each motor meticulously, including several backup motors in preparation of one of those rare times one would be needed. All guides are equipped with modern ICOM marine radios with fresh batteries. And all boats are stocked with safety gear such as Kill Switches, PFD's, Flares, etc...
Before you board the skiffs each day be sure you have reel covers on all your reels. While running, the reels often bounce and can be damaged. Each boat is equipped with areas to stow 4 to 6 rigged and ready rods on the boat. If covered and stowed properly, anlgers will significantly lower their risk of having any of their rods or reels damaged while under way.
Guides
Casa Blanca Lodge & Playa Blanca Resort guides are among the finest saltwater fly fishing guides in the world. Each guide has completed a rigorous training period, during which time much effort was made to gain experience and skill navigating boats through Ascension Bay. The result, Casa Blanca & Playa Blanca guides are expert boat handlers who know these waters and how to navigate the shallow, coral ridden, waters of Ascension Bay, safely. Our guides are also expert fly fisherman. All are proficient double haul casters and may even be able to provide a tip or two while on the boat. The guides are very knowledgeable about angling, but not all are fluent in English.
